Steps to build Drawing Notes (General Notes / Sheet Notes / Abbreviations)

Below is a quick outline of how you should create your notes for Revit workflow and management

1.    Type in word   
(W2P_Templates_GeneralNotes_NoteType.docx)

      a.    Fastest way to make the text!

2.    Move to Excel and format
(W2P_Templates_GeneralNotes_NoteType.xls)

      a.    Easiest way to format the text

3.    “Data Link” the Excel File into AutoCAD drawing. 
(W2P_Templates_GeneralNotes_NoteType.dwg)

      a.    Data Link = Read the help file

            i.    Live link to the Excel File

            ii.    Some formatting from Excel is maintained

                        1.    Test to find out

                        2.    Formatting = combination of Excel Text and AutoCAD “Table Style”

      b.    CAD Drawing = can control final formatting

            i.    Table Style

4.    Import/Link AutoCAD drawing into Revit Project

      a.    Where?

            i.    Drafting View

            ii.    Or directly on sheet

      b.    What?

            i.    Keep as a Linked File

      c.    Why?

 

Note Change Process

1.    Edit Word Doc

2.    Edit & Save Excel Doc (copy paste from word)

3.    Open & Save AutoCAD file (“Data Links” update with open command)

4.    Reload Revit Links (Links Manager)
